Introducing your talent on screen – say it or text it?

In the first few seconds of your video, should you have your talent introduce themselves or use a lower third instead?

Show it, don’t say it

Filmmakers often talk about the idea of show it, don’t say it. And that concept can be applied to all sorts of content. So unless it’s an intentional, creative decision, I suggest you don’t waste those precious screen seconds, especially if it’s at the very beginning of your video having your talent introduce themselves and their job title. Instead jump straight into the first key message of your video and use a lower third title to do the heavy lifting of introductions for you.
